Peperomia Napoli Nights is the beautiful dark member of the Peperomia family with its amazing silver foliage. It’s cute, stylish and fits almost anywhere. Being a slow growing plant that doesn’t reach enormous sizes, you can pop your Peperomia pretty much anywhere as long as it has access to bright indirect light.
Light
Peperomia Napoli Nights can tolerate lower lighting conditions but will do best in medium to bright indirect light. Direct light can cause the markings on the leaves to fade. This plant would do well on a north or east facing windowsill or if you want to keep it in a south of west facing room simply pull it away from the light source so that it doesn’t receive direct sunlight.
Watering
These semi succulent leaves do not want to be overwatered. One of the first signs that you could be watering this plant too much is the leaves becoming squishy to touch. If you notice this on your plant then cut your watering schedule right back before you do too much damage to your plant.
Instead allow the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Feel the top two inches of soil and as it begins to feel dry to touch give this plant a drink. If you find it difficult to gauge when the soil has dried out then a moisture probe can help you. You simply stick the two probes into the soil and it should give you a reading. As the device starts to read dry it’s time to water your plant. You don’t want to let the probe reach 1 or 2 as this is too dry for this type of plant.
When you do water your plant you could try watering from the bottom as then it will only take in the water that it needs. You will also probably need to water this plant less during the winter months so be willing to adjust your watering schedule for what your plant needs.
Humidity
Your plant will do well in medium level humidity. It should be fine with the humidity level in most homes however if you live somewhere particularly dry you may want to consider adding some form of humidity to your plant care like a pebble tray filled with water, or you could try misting your plant once every few days. Things like heating systems can cause the air to dry out unnaturally so make sure you keep your Peperomia away from these.
Soil
A well draining soil is needed for this kind of plant so choosing a regular house plant potting mix with added perlite should work well. You can also try using loam or sand if you already have these to hand, as long as you use components to break up the soil to allow for aeration and drainage.
Temperature
Peperomia Napoli Nights do not like cooler temperatures so try to keep your plant in a room above 16°C. They prefer to be warmer and can tolerate quite hot temperatures as long as the air does not become too dry. Cooler temperatures can affect how quickly your plants soil dries out which can influence how often you need to water it.
