Alocasia brisbanensis is rhizomatous perennial that is much valued for its attractive foliage.
The large glossy leaves held high on long petioles gives the plant a very tropical feel.
The flower inflorescence is spectacular. What appears to be the funnel shaped creamy flower is a bract (Spathe) and the flowers are small and found along the long central spadix. The summer flowers are followed by deep red fruits in early autumn.
It grows in clumps and looks great indoors or outside in warm, shaded gardens.
Excellent for creating tropical effect.
Unfortunately all parts of this plant are poisonous so it is really not suitable for gardens with children or animals.
